Beschreibung

In 2007, the European Union tried to contribute to the political liberalization of the Central Asian region with a first Central Asia Strategy, where close economic interdependence was intended to support this process. In retrospect however, Europe and Central Asia did not really approach each other during the following years - neither politically nor economically. Nowadays, the entire region is in a sandwich-position between Moscow and Beijing. In this essay the authors illustrate the view of four Central Asian countries (Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan) on the title theme.
